The Japan Karate Association is an educational body approved by the Japanese Ministry of Education for the study of Shotokan Karate. It provides its members with worldwide technical standards and certification

 



JKA-BC is a group of affiliated Shotokan karate dojos operating within the province of British Columbia. JKA-BC is the only karate organization in B.C. actively affiliated with the Japan Karate Association.





The JKA Shotokan Karate-Do World Organization of Canada (JKA-SKD) was incorporated in February 2001. JKA-SKD’s function is to bring together various JKA affiliated organizations across Canada dedicated to promoting, teaching and developing Shotokan Karate-Do, while respecting the rules, regulations and directives decreed and promulgated by the Japan Karate Association (JKA).





The World Karate Federation, or WKF, was formed in 1990 from former WUKO (World Union of Karate-Do Organizations) members and is the largest international governing body of sport karate with over 130 member countries. It is the only karate organization recognised by the International Olympic Committee and has more than ten million members.  The WKF organizes the Junior and Senior Karate World Championships, which are each held every other year. The President of the WKF is Antonio Espinos, and the headquarters are located in Madrid, Spain.




Karate BC's mission is "To promote the traditions and integrity of karate-do and to provide opportunities to excel in a competitive environment.  Through its programs and leadership, Karate BC, in cooperation with its affiliates, supports the development of karate and the aspirations of its members by offering opportunities and setting procedures, standards and policies."

 



 

 
Karate Canada is a corporation constituted under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act, with the objective of describing and incorporating all activities related to the promotion, organization, regulation and popularization of the sport of karate all over Canada, of protecting the physical and emotional health of athletes and promotes the interests of karate throughout Canada
